Fading smiles...

You can go outside when it all freezes over.
And dark sky aches upon you.
And white snow has turned vaguely grayish dark blue without the light
shimmering under the streetlights.

And you can go and stand in the snow.
In the spotlight.
Barefooted.

And after a while the coldness of it all will start to eat inside your bare feet.
Making you shiver.
So you put your arms around you as good as you can, trying to control the shivering.
But the cold will get inside your flesh, inside your bones, inside your soul, making wee parts of you one with this all.
And if you stand there for long enough... Long enough to see moon fly across the sky and vague signs of morning appear behind the horizon...
Then you feel so warm inside.
So comfortable and happy and warm.
You curl up and feel like purring.

Your legs have stopped supporting you long ago and have stopped belonging to you ages ago.

And all this time, all you do is SMILE to this eternal night.
